Comparison of Seattle Veterinarians

----------
If you're shopping for a vet in Seattle, this page may help you. I called a number of Seattle vets on 6/10/2005, and asked "what do you charge for a cat dental checkup and teeth cleaning?" My results are below, and it appears some people are sure paying a lot. There seem to be two "classes" of prices -- the $100 dental, and the $400 dental (for the same thing, as far as I can tell).

Based on my experience and doing these comparisons, my favorite of the bunch is Rainier Veterinary Hospital. This is due to reputation, price, location, and my having gone there several times.

I also received a nice long email from Mercer Island Vet explaining more of why there are varying prices at different places.

Aerowood Animal Hospital, 2975 156TH AVE SE, Bellevue (425-641-8414)
If you have a serious problem or after-hours emergency, the Aerowood Animal Hospital (425-641-8414) is open 24/7/365, and cannot be beat. Their doctors and staff are excellent and super competent, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They also do routine care, but my experience with them is emergency care.

$350-400 if less than 45min and all is good, but keep reading. They tend to up-sell you on everything, and not tell you about lower cost options. The actual estimate I got when taking my cat there was ultimately over $800 to get the dental done w/ blood tests, etc. I've been here many times, and now that I've done more comparisons, will not go back.
